This Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, Nonito Donaire (San Leandro, CA) defends his WBO 126 lb. title against Jorge Arce (Los Mochis, Mexico) in what many fans expect to be a great fight. As Arce, (61-6-2 (46) loves to come forward and throw tons of shots, and Donaire, a slick counter puncher and a Top Five Pound for Pounder, is capable of stopping any fighter at any time. Arce, winner of six of his last seven, last defeated Mauricio Martinez on September 22, 2012 by ten round unanimous decision. Donaire is coming off of an impressive ninth round TKO victory over Toshiaki Nishioka on October 13, 2012 and is undefeated in his last 29 fights.
“The Filipino Flash” has failed to dazzle since his one round destruction of Fernando Montiel on February 19, 2011. But if anybody can bring out the best in Donaire, it is Arce. The 33 year old “El Travieso” has promised “A great fight”, and says it’s “Going to be the best fight of my life!” Donaire, 30, promises his own excitement: “It won’t go the distance, trust me.”
Here's hoping we get one more late FOTY candidate stuffed in all our stockings.Tags: Arce, Boxing, Donaire, Toyota Center, WBO
