The Wrap reports that Hollywood heavyweights Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone are in negotiations with Warner Bros. to star in a boxing-based comedy entitled 'Grudge Match'. Although not yet given the green-light, filming is targeted for early next year.
The film centers around two retired boxing rivals who return to the ring for a final showdown. Peter Segal, who directed the sports comedy 'The Longest Yard', will direct from a script currently being drafted by Entourage creator and exec producer Doug Ellin.
Neither actor has signed on yet as both are currently involved with other projects, including a total of seven new De Niro films set for release in 2012 and 2013.
At the time of projected filming, this would unite a shirtless 69-year old Bull with a 66-year old Rock.
With the exception of a 40-year old George Foreman, the return of retired fighters to the ring have not been all that entertaining or compelling.
This 'Grudge Match' probably won't be any different.
